Safety & Compliance
Professional laser production requires more than powerful equipment. Each show is designed for its specific venue, audience configuration, effects, and operating environment — and every production is overseen by a Laser Institute of America-certified Laser Safety Officer.
Our Planning Process
Venue-Specific Review
We review the room or site layout, audience areas, stage position, projection paths, termination areas, control location, power, haze restrictions, and production schedule before every show.
Controlled Setup and Operation
Projectors are securely positioned, safety controls remain accessible, effects are tested before the audience enters the operating area, and the show remains under active operator supervision throughout.
Regulatory Filing
For outdoor shows, we prepare and file the FDA (CDRH) laser light show variance package — including the show report, hazard evaluation, and supporting equipment documentation — and the FAA Notice of Proposed Outdoor Laser Operation. Shows are not operated without required approvals in hand.
Production Coordination
We coordinate with the event producer, venue, artist team, lighting department, rigging team, and other stakeholders so the laser system integrates cleanly into the overall production.
Equipment and Execution
LIA-Certified Laser Safety Officer
Kevin Thomas, Principal, is a Laser Institute of America-certified Laser Safety Officer and personally oversees the safety planning, hazard evaluation, and regulatory filing for every outdoor production.
Professional Direct-Diode RGB Projectors
Beamologist operates 5 in-house RGB laser projectors (4× LN10000-RGB at 10W, 1× LN25000-RGB at 25W) configured for the venue, throw distance, ambient conditions, and creative brief.
Haze and Atmosphere
Six Antari 330W professional hazers using Antari HZL non-toxic oil-based fluid. Equipment and fluid volume are selected for the venue, production requirements, and fire-alarm restrictions.
Pre-Show Testing
All equipment undergoes pre-show inspection and testing. Effects are verified before the audience enters the operating area. Safety controls remain accessible throughout the show.
Compliance Language
Show-Specific Compliance
Each show's compliance status is show-specific. Beamologist does not make blanket claims of FDA approval, certification, or variance coverage — regulatory filings are prepared and confirmed for each individual production.
Outdoor Show Requirements
Outdoor productions require dual-agency filing: an FDA (CDRH) laser light show variance package and an FAA Notice of Proposed Outdoor Laser Operation. Both are filed independently by Beamologist for each qualifying show.
Venue and Local Approvals
Some venues and jurisdictions require additional local approvals, fire marshal coordination, or haze restrictions. We review these requirements during production planning and confirm all approvals before operating.
